Hikaru Utada is probably the most well known J-pop idol in America. So why not celebrate her and all her glory? This panel will discuss her musical works along with the hot gossip of her social life throughout the years. We'll also view her music videos and discuss how much her music has influenced the fans of J-pop and video games.

LAST STOP TOKYO

LAST STOP TOKYO was founded by current members of The Slants, Simon Young and Johnny Sars. Joined by AC Slayer and Aaron Sixxx, they are LAST STOP TOKYO, a straight up punk rock & roll machine with catchy hooks, driving guitar riffs, and an in-your-face attitude. Paying homage to The Ramones and all of their inspired offspring, LAST STOP TOKYO captures the pure rock spirit, where music is still about having a good time and where boundaries, nationality, race, and gender cease to exist.

MTAC Idol

After immense popularity, MTAC Idol returns! Our panel of judges will determine who has the voice, stage presence, and style to be named the new MTAC Idol! To try out, simply attend one of the audition periods at the con (Friday afternoon and Saturday morning). For a list of songs to choose from or info about contributing an mp3, please visit our forum thread. This year we will also feature a few of our very own MTAC staff during the judging intermission, so don't miss it! Audition times are as follows: Friday 1:30-2:30pm, 7:00-8:00pm; Saturday 9:15-10:15am

MTAC Ninja: Shake Your Body

The champions of last year’s Kaiju impromptu dance off have returned. Band of 7 (Bo7), has returned. This time though, they are here to lay down the beats. Cheer on your favorite dancers or put on your best, worst, or funniest dance moves on the floor as Band of 7 lays down the beats for MTAC’s first official dance off.

Songwriting with the Slants

Learn the in's and out's of writing songs from experienced musicians who have been writing for bands, films, and pop jingles for years. The focus will primarily be on rock, pop, and electronica; though these fundamentals cross over all genres.

So You Wanna Be a Rockstar?

An informative panel on the basics in getting involved with the music industry, from starting a band to marketing it, as well as information on how to get songs into television, anime, video games, and more. Panel will also include helpful resources such as vendors, information on getting endorsements, and a question and answer section.

J-Rock Sleepover

A panel for J-rock fans to come see their favorite bands' videos and maybe learn about new bands too! Or, a panel for non-fans curious about J-rock. We will give information about the bands and the scene itself and show video clips for each band.

Stepmania Mania!

The Stepmania panel returns! Learn how to install the program onto a removable drive, where to place the files you find, how to make your own simfiles, and just about everything else one needs to get started! The panel will cover a Windows install, and CDs with all the programs, codecs, and fonts needed will be provided with a limited amount available. (Note: The CDs contain free, perfectly legal programs that are alternatives to pay programs. They will not contain music or simfiles.)

MTAC AMV Contest
